I would be happy to mirror some of the bigger files as i have a server with "unlimited BW / month" it actually means a FUP of 1000GB / month and i use a fraction of that :P Anyways let me know Bret |

I'm so jazzed that you've decided to put up animated wallpapers! It's great to have something besides the default Windows crap to run in the background. Thanks for all your hard work! If it's economically feasible, I look forward to seeing more! |

im running XP and managed to put it on my desktop, simply amazing!!!! both of the animations are great! |

I have a server with http://layeredtech.com/ and they are great. Their prices are pretty reasonable, their support is great, and they offer dedicated servers with a base package of 1500 GB / month, upgradable to 10Mbps unmetered or even 100Mbps unmetered (ouch $$$ for the latter though) You might want to look into that as an option. The servers themselves aren't super powerful, but the bandwidth is really, really nice. |

"I would rather not upload a because I want the video to play across a number of different platforms, not just Windows." Is that sentence missing a noun? |

Yeah, I'm baffled. Same error. I would think the NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT would be able to handel it. Apparently not. I'm running ultimate too, so not sure where the problem would be. |

Quick & easy tutorial for Windows XP users: 1) Head here to download the latest build: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html 2) Install (un)checking any options(ex. uncheck the file-type associations if you use a different music player etc etc) 3) Load VNC (or let the installer launch it for you) 4) Drag & Drop / Open the movie in VNC 5) Click View -> Playlist 6) Click the 'repeat one' button (third on the right) 7) Right click on the now playing video and select 'Wallpaper' Done! However this will chew up some CPU cycles (18-22% of my 3.0 dual Core) and some RAM (24K) YMMV! Thanks for all your hard work Ryan! -Eric |

Thanks, maybe it's just not capable, although it sure seems like I have the full aero/glass going on. I point it to the desktop, but it doesn't show the mpgs. It's a macbook, so maybe integrated graphics is the problem. I'll try it out on my mac pro and see what happens. If I navigate the choose dialog box to the desktop and manually type in fluorescence61080p.mpg I get this message: "This file can't be used as a background picture This file is not one of the supported file types, which include .bmp, .jpg and .dib" |
||

Easy enough, *if your system supports aeroglass just right click on your desktop and select personalize, once in the new window select desktop background, then browse to the video file/picture you wish to use as your desktop background. Note this is for windows Vista Ultimate users (or users who have customized there vista home premium/business installations.) *Dreamscene requires full aeroglass support to function properly. Cheers~ |

I mostly use OSX, but when I boot into Vista I'd love to use these new animated desktops, I just can't figure out how! |

Just wanted to comment on how cool it is to see really high quality animated desktops in 1080p at last that i can enjoy on my HDTV and i'm glad to have finally made the jump to become a member here. And also just to pass along some info relating to it, that there is a way (tho I am not linking to it as i don't know if M$ would like it and i wish not to get anyone in trouble) but what i can say is for vista home/business users,who can run aeroglass,there is a 'way' to enable Dreamscene on there respective vista loads, without the need for ultimate, and enjoy these wonderful background videos, no application or TSR apps needed. Google is your friend :) Best regards all: Phase~ |

The animations are cute, but I find that sort of thing far too distracting to use as a wallpaper. So I vote in favor of minimizing the number of these rather than buying more bandwidth (which would probably mean an increase in membership fees). Or, have a tiered setup where those of us not interested in animations don't have access to them, and don't have to foot the bill for them. |

It might be possible for get these to work on your desktop in XP, but it would probably use quite a bit of CPU. As I said below, Vista Ultimate is coded so that the video card GPU is used to display the video on the desktop while your CPU is free. In the end I think it's just one of those little features that MS hopes will get you to upgrade from XP. I personally still use XP on my main machine, but I have Vista running on another computer to test the animations. |

Is there any way to get these animated backgrounds to work on Windows XP Pro? |
||

I was with Dreamhost before I went to Rackspace. Nice service, but I found the shared environment wasn't right for my site. |
||
Mark |
Have you considered getting shared webspace there? I currently get 5TB/mn for $20. I'm not kidding. I've been happy with them. |

Now this is kick ass. i love the wallpaper and now this. you the man |

I've heard that you can play MPG files if you have VLC installed. It's free and you can check it out here. |

Well, none of these "animated desktops" open on any of my mac and even comes up with an error on my WinXp machine (which I expected anyways). I'd love to see these someday but unless they work on a mac I won't . And YES I do have the most recent update on QuickTime, etc. Thanks |

This one is also good, less distracting. Another excellent idea would be slowloy moving fog. MANY of your existing renders would look fabulous with that. |

It should work now! |

I get a not found error when I try to download the file... |
