For the latest OS X release: Typically things work either the same way as before or in a better (sometimes different) manner as the previous release. I doubt it's going to come down to format/codec so much as implementation. But regardless all we can do is wait until it's released. In the past Apple typically has not done a feature because either they can't make it perfect for everybody or don't think it's worth the distraction on the time of the developers. Unless Apple demands the latest hardware like MS does for Vista, they may not even add this feature to the OS. We will just have to wait and see. |

I run Windows XP, and would like to use these animated backgrounds for a screensaver. I googled and got a plethora of options, which presumably have a wide variation in quality and embedded malware. If you have personal experience with an animated screensaver program for XP, I'd love to hear about it. |

I don't want to forget anyone. Do Leopard users need a different animation format? |

Please don't forget the soon-to-be Leopard users out there. As always, enjoy your work. Thanks. |

Actually, if you Google it and look around, you will find you can in-fact use dreamscene on Vista Home premium and Business with the proper modified files and user permissions. Just a friendly fyi, that not all non-Ultimate users are out of luck here :] (myself included) |

Just to say, DreamScene is only available to the few users with Vista Ultimate. Those of us with Home Premium or Business, are unfortunately unable to use these files; which is a pity. The previews look great! Keep creating :) T. |

if you want to use a movie as your desktop wallpaper in Mac OSX... MPlayer for Mac OSX (requires 10.4) http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html from the application menu, select Preferences, click on the Video & Audio tab, then check the box for Video as background. click on the OK button, open any video, and play. if you're still running Mac OSX 10.3 (Panther), MPlayer OSX 2.0b8r4 works better... http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/16623 same directions, except that the preferences window isn't tabbed. just find and check the box for Video as background. if you're a Terminal geek, find the mplayer binary within the application package. /path.../mplayer -rootwin -loop 0 /path.../movie.mpg cheers! |
