Perhaps this is obvious but I think, since this is the comments page for DB patronage, Randy meant lifetimers don't get as much for their donation, since part of the incentive is a membership or renewal. If you're already a lifer, that takes away part of the incentive. But, Randy, patrons typically don't donate to the arts for the freebees. They do it because they like the feeling of making a difference and supporting the arts. (Or, if you want to be more cynical, they do it for the bragging rights.) The incentives are not really the point. However, Ryan, it seems to me you're likely to get more $100 donors than you will $500 or $1000 donors, at least from individuals and families, so if the donor is already a lifer perhaps some other incentive might be offered instead of renewal? I'm not sure what that would be, since a lifetime membership is already an excellent deal if the person plans on being a continuing member. Perhaps on the Permanent Donors Page Listing, the donor could be identified as a lifetime member, or some other acknowledgement?
