I liked this one right way - it does hint of Ansel Adams b/w photos, one in particular to my mind. I'm looking at it on a mobile phone, which limits things a bit. The artist has been at this for a while; and his skill has grown and grown -- recall that this is from _f o u r t e e n_ years ago.

Here, your attention to detail shines through. The image draws the viewer into the story and invites someone to create a backstory. What must be going on in there? Brings you to another place and away from the boring cubicle!

Curtain
This image is mean't to give you an idea of how I work. I took the wireframe model (which is the unrendered form for all my scenes), and blended it with the rendered image.

Dragon's Teeth
The Dragon's Teeth: Created 3/3/99. The lightning in this image was created in 2D using the no-longer available Almathera Filters for Photoshop. I then imported the bitmap onto a flat surface in Bryce 3D enlarged it, and moved it off into the distance. The lightning was enlarged too much, though, because it's a little blurry.

The image is so named because the rock formations came out looking like teeth.

I really like this one, too. However, I was surprised to discover it's only 800 x 600, not 1152 x 864. Many of the earliest works are like that -- smaller than labeled.

Back in high school, somewhere in 2002, I was stumbling around for wallpapers that weren't crap, and luckily found Digital Blasphemy. All the wallpapers here were mindblowing, but this one in particular stuck DB in my head forever. ... And made me lurk around and bum off freebies all these years, until yesterday when I finally subscribed, heh! Thank you so much Ryan for all these years of gorgeous art. (:

Ryan: if updating it is a lot of work, would it at least be possible to make a higher resolution render of the same picture?

I'd absolutely love to have something I can print..

I don't think I've seen any other wallpaper of yours where you've tried to mix planetscape with abstract fractal art. The effect here is great, and makes me wonder what it would be like if you had done it today. Begging for a higher res as always :P

"1080p problem"
It seems that the 1080p render has a been cut from the right and left sides.

The picture dimension at the moment is 1906x1080 instead of 1920x1080.

Can you fix it, whenever you find the time?

Thanks Ryan.

"Multiple Compliments"
Ryan,

While many of your desktop images get compliments from people who stop by my desk at work, "Scorched" has outdone them all. After only two days, I've heard many comments from almost everyone who has passed by. (Looks like the Sahara Desert or Mars, good use of shadow, bright sun seems to be pulsing, etc.)

Is it because some of us in the eastern U.S. are sick of snow and are thus desperate for something warm? Maybe. I personally believe it's a testament to your wonderful use of color, brightness, and detail.

Keep it up!
