Poseidon's Playground
"I need to do more underwater pictures. They're so much fun and it's an alien world right under our noses. This one uses just about every bit of my 16GB RAM."

Canopy Creek (Winter)
"The daytime winter version of "Canopy Creek". It turned out a little too bright for my tastes so I also offer a night version which is a bit darker. Both are a little on the creepy side to be honest."

Canopy Creek (Autumn)
"I changed the leaf textures from "Canopy Creek (Summer)" and replaced the leafy underbrush with golden grass. I wanted to make sure to keep some green leaves visible here and there to note that the transition to fall was not yet complete."

Interesting how color changes everything. I don't find this version the least bit "creepy". Rather nice, I think.

Enshrouded
"I really wanted to give Vue d'Esprit's clouds a workout here. They had just come out with a new version which allowed clouds to cast shadows on each other (something which, believe it or not, wasn't possible before). This image actually started out as clouds only but I added the forest late in the process to give everything a sense of scale. This image took an absurd amount of time to render (over 10 days) so I had to wait until I purchased a new workstation in May 2011 until I could devote the rendertime needed to produce the multiscreen. I finally finished it in Sept 2011 after a staggering 1000 hour render."

Even though it increased the render time dramatically, I really think having those high-res trees paid off! All of the trees have so much detail, it looks like a photograph.

It looks great with my 4 monitors! :)

Love this picture. It's very relaxing to look at. It's been my desktop for quite awhile. The only thing missing is me, in my favorite chair curled up with a book.

Although this is an older piece, I had forgotten about it until this morning when I was adding some wallpapers to work PC. I would love to see this revisited in some way, and one thing I would like to see added would be more people. While having one figure definitely gives a sense of scale, I like to see a building such as this in use with multiple people as if it was a snapshot from a working facility. Anyway, my two cents.

Introspection:

Jazz trumpet player Freddie Hubbard died in December 2008, a little bit before the debut of this image. I found it interesting at that time that this image shared the name with one of his most revered albums. I think the title track sums this image up perfectly.

I love both versions of this piece. I enjoy hiking in the desert southwest and these capture the essential grandeur of the place very well.
