The Ride  -- Merry Christmas!
"I've done a few versions of this scene over the years. The first was done in Bryce in the 90s. The "forest" was faked using a spiky terrain.

I rendered a second version using World Builder in '03. The forest looked much better.

I used Vue d'Esprit for this version. Technology marches on!

Alfred hitchcock presents: The Crows

eerie beautiful peaceful, under it all...a sense of menace. Nothing that you can point to. Just a sense that you dont really matter in the grand scheme. Im not even a fan of the darker genre's of art but this picture...i rated it a ten. Thank you

Moonlit Oasis
"This is a night version of "Oasis". My first version was very dark (some said it was too dark). In early 2012 (never too late right?) I went back and brightened the scene considerably and created a new render.

"Dual Screen Moon++"
I was just comparing the old and new 3840x1200 renders. The new one looks great, and I really like how the moon is offset so it is no longer split across both screens.

"One of my favorites..."
Dear Ryan,

I love this one as well. My only gripe with it is the two palm tree trunks (?) that extend out on the lower left region of the image. They seem out of place and should have leaves or be removed. Otherwise the sky color is astounding. Thank you sir.

"I absolutely love this wallpaper!"
It simply reminds me of the temple of the sun in Mexico. I loved visiting the pyramids near Mexico City whenever we went to visit my father's family. I always ate too many popsicles and ended up sick. But I so loved it regardless. Ryan, I am making this my FB cover! Great image.

"This is a very special image to me. I created it while recuperating from major abdominal surgery in early 2009 and in a way this represents my own personal phoenix.

I was re-reading George R.R. Martin's "Clash of Kings" at the time and a blood-red comet figures prominently in the story. The cyclical, returning, nature of the comet really inspired me.

The comet was created and rendered in Apophysis and composed in Lightwave into a sky-spanning "planet" plate for Vue d'Esprit.

Updated 6/22/11: I've added a blood-red version of this image (for Ice and Fire fans) in the Pickle Jar!"

I have been looking at your art for a decade now and I just love First Moonlight. It is probably my favorite piece of art on the site. Where is this place? Because I really want to be there.
