Photoshop is cool for many reasons. Chief among them is the ability to use different layers for things in your image. I first create a black layer on top of my image and set the transperency low so I can see through. Then I render some lightning using a cool plugin from a company called almathera.
I want it to look like some serious energy is involved here. Photoshop has an awesome lens flare plugin that will do the trick. Here I have made a new layer (same technique as before) and placed a flare over each hand.
