The rock formations, my god how long did that take you??! The brilliant shades of the rock in both shadow and light are incredible. I love the depth you've given the pool, very creative and natural. This is better than a photograph because it came from your creativity, well done! :) |

"Flat 3D" |

First off, I love the colors. However, when I made this my desktop image, I noticed the same thing that I hate about 3D movies, it looks like a pop-up book. Instead of looking like it all has dimension, it looks like a bunch of flat images that are stacked in front of each other. I do like the concept of this image though. |

"Pickle Jar Swap" |

I've swapped the new "focused" version into the gallery and moved the blurred version to the Pickle Jar. Dual and triple-screen versions are also now available! |

I *VERY* much prefer the pickle jar variant of the scene. It's just better in every way, to my eyes. Far more detail; far more interesting; unpleasant blurriness gone. Also, the weird tilt-shift effect is also much less pronounced. Altogether, this now seems vastly improved. It's just odd that the 'good' one is the pickle jar varient and the 'weird' one is the gallery version! Wrong way round… |

I thought for a moment there that my glasses were out of focus, given the way the background looks. Its interesting and the foreground out to the edge of the pool look amazing. after that it loses my attention due to the way my eyes see it as out of focus. |

"Focal Clarity Tricks" |

This literally looks like a close up of a miniature, likely due to this focal thing it has going on, the rate it goes out of focus may be a bit too great. It IS cool though and I half expect the Stingray or Proteus subs to surface in the lower center. |

Love the detail, it looks like some of the old movie sets from the way early SyFy sets, you see in the old flick, but with colour, thats not a bad thing, I love it, Too Cool Ryan. |

"Yes, tilt-shift" |

Thanks, Nathan Zachary, tilt-shift is indeed the term I couldn't think of. This is actually a surprisingly successful attempt at producing that effect artificially, and I don't quite understand why it works! So it's an interesting effect… but I'm not especially keen on it here. However, I look forward to seeing the pickle jar version of the image that's all in focus. |

The white area dead centre is indecipherable. The foreground is excellent. |

"Looks Like a Miniature" |

I love this one. Its my favorite of your scenes in a while. Its very colorful and I don't know what you intended, but it looks like a miniature model of a cave. |

It's pretty, but it seems artificial. Rather like one of those fake rocks you put in your fish tank. |

"Old Movie Set Background" |
Fri July 6, 2018 at 12:04 pm

Reminds me of an old movie set background where they would construct the foreground view and then use a blurred picture in the background to provide "depth". I think it would look better if everything was in focus rather than blurring the depth perception. |

I agree with Richard H. about the image appearing to be in tilt-shift style. |

"Blur and Haze???" |
Fri July 6, 2018 at 9:23 am

Interesting effect. I'm sure this is how our eyes truly work, but our focusing capability is so fast that we perceive everything to be "in focus" simultaneously.
Even those of us with corrective eye wear believe everything is "in focus" once we use our eye wear.
Great image. As always looking forward to the 2x versions. :) |

"Blur and Haze" |

Yes this is definitely an experiment in more ways than one. I had all kinds of trouble getting the lighting I wanted but this effect sort of happened by accident and I thought it looked interesting.
I also used a DOF effect to bring the foreground into focus while heavily blurring the background. I will post a version where the whole thing is in focus in the Pickle Jar soon. |

"Not sure of the haze" |

Good colors, more or less standard cave view. The haze in the background could have been used to make the light source in the foreground clearer; somehow as is it doesn't quite work for me. |

"Not keen…" |

This is an odd one. The outsides of the picture, near to the viewer, are nice and crisp, but the central area is *much* too blurry and out of focus. Moreover, although I can't explain why, the overall effect is exactly like one of those 'miniature shots'; that effect you get where big buildings look to have been scaled down to toy size. I'm not sure what you call it, but the overriding effect is of miniature photography. It's rather disconcerting. |

I love the design but when I use the iPhone size for my phone, the background seems blurry or out of focus. |

I like the forefront of this render very much, but wish the pool was bigger and showing more of it. Also the background is way to bright for this type of scene. a more subdued fire would be more fitting I think. |

The texturing on the rocks is amazing, so much detail. But where's the 3D virtual reality version? |
